At times, it is replaced with either spinal or epidural anesthesia and a nerve block.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n        <\/div><div class=\"list-item\">\n        <h4>Step 2<\/h4>\n        <div><p>The surgeon makes an incision of 6-8 inches to expose the hip joint. The damaged part of the ball socket and cartilage on the surface of the femoral head and acetabulum are removed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n        <\/div><div class=\"list-item\">\n        <h4>Step 3<\/h4>\n        <div><p>The metal or ceramic ball is implanted at the upper part of the femoral head.
