Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder replacement is a surgical procedure in which the glenohumeral joint is replaced by an artificial joint.

Types of Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder Resurfacing Arthroplasty

Only the damaged part is replaced.

Partial Shoulder Surgery

Only one part of the joint is replaced.

Total Shoulder Surgery

Both parts of the joint are replaced.

Reverse Shoulder Surgery

It is a combination of rotator cuff tear and shoulder arthritis.

Signs & Symptoms of Shoulder Replacement Need

  • Restricted movement or severe weakness
  • Severe shoulder pain that interferes with everyday life
  • Moderate to severe pain at rest (or difficulty sleeping)
  • Prolonged Chronic and Radiating Pain
  • Inability to Raise Your Arm
  • Rotator cuff tear
  • Frequent shoulder dislocations

Treatment of Shoulder Replacement

Minimally Invasive Surgery

It is performed by inserting special instruments and an arthroscope through small incisions in the shoulder. Once the surgery is done, the incisions are threaded via surgical tools.

Mini-open Surgery

It combines minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques with a smaller open procedure. The incision is one to two inches long which may allow the surgeon to make more extensive repairs than possible with minimally invasive surgery.

Open Surgery

This can be done through small incisions of just a few inches. This surgery is necessary in some cases and may be associated with better results than arthroscopy.
