Lasik
LASIK (Laser Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery used to correct vision in patients with hypermetropia, myopia, and astigmatism.
Signs & Symptoms of LASIK Requirement
- Difficulty seeing at night
- Forced squinting, experiencing blurring and haloes around objects
- Eye strain or frequent headaches
- Difficulty seeing smaller objects like road signs
- Eyeglasses are affecting the lifestyle
Treatment of LASIK
Step 1
The patient is given local anesthesia in the form of eye drops.
Step 2
An instrument called a microkeratome or femtosecond laser is used to create a thin flap in the cornea.
Step 3
The cornea is peeled off and the underlying corneal tissue is reshaped using an excimer laser beam to correct the refractive error.
Step 4
Once the cornea is reshaped to properly focus light onto the retina, the cornea flap is gently repositioned to the original position.
