Treatment of Cholecystectomy
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy
A laparoscope with a camera is inserted into the abdomen via an incision. Surgical tools are inserted through another incision. The surgeon operates the tools by watching a video monitor and removes the gallbladder.
Open Cholecystectomy
A large incision is made in the abdomen below the ribs on the right side. The muscle and tissue are pulled back to reveal the liver and gallbladder. The gallbladder is then removed and the incision is sutured.
